“I can dream no more, I’ve been chasing all of yours that I’ve forgotten what it was that I wanted”
Growing up I knew what I wanted to do, I was going to graduate and go into the Arts, sure I wanted it at the time but it was always something everybody just expected me to get into. I did, and that didn’t last very long.
I (and I’m sure a lot of people) have been living my life doing what others just expected and wanted me to do that I was fooled into thinking I wanted to do it to, but I wasn’t happy.
I decided to live my life as I want to, I’ve been learnt that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing to get to success, I’ve learnt that though you may look and feel like you are going against the current it doesn’t mean you are doing it all wrong.
I am going against the current, I don’t want what most people want, I don’t want to feel secure in a 9-5 desk job knowing I’ll be doing this for the rest of my life. I don’t want to settle down in a country I have spent my whole life, I don’t want to feel comfortable having a daily routine neither do I want to be like any other robot where you wake up to make the money. I don’t want to know what or where ill be in a month or a few years, that’s exciting.
Discomfort is where I have always been most comfortable in and I believe if I knew where I was going I’d lose my way.
BACK TO THE FASHION
I had been on the long time hunt for a distressed denim dress. And though I must admit this wasn’t exactly what I had pictured in mind, I was in love with this piece which I found in a big pile of clothes in Zara during the sale. Girl you gotta dig cause all the good deals are under some pile of crappy sweaters somewhere I am telling ya, there is no more shame when shopping the DSF sale “JUST DO IT”!
It fit perfectly so like every girl tells herself before binge buying, it was meant to be! Because Dubai has been very bipolar these past couple of weeks with its weather I really have no idea what to wear before heading out the door so having a knee length denim button down dress is a go to! Its covered enough to stay warm yet you can always roll up your sleeves and get on with your day sweat-free with no problem!
Because it is such an edgy piece I softened it down with some basic white strappy heels which I have in multiple colours (Thank you, DSF!) and I do recommend you atleast have a pair in black and white for obvious basic reasons. Lets totally be basic girls together, eyy!
But in all seriousness, I love this dress. Its easy and I feel cool in it, and what else do you want to feel in clothes but confident and comfortable. I can easily imagine myself in the next Art Festival in Al Serkal, Al Quoz looking at art and being surrounded by my favorite kind of people all sharing one same passion for art and its different forms. But that’s another blogpost now is it!
